MSI P55a-G55 mobo
Intel i5-760 @2.8ghz
4GB Corsair xms3 1600 ddr3
EVGA GTX 580 SC 1.5GB
750w Corsair v2 TX enthusiast PSU
23" HP LED Monitor @ 1920x1080

Currently, whilst playing the Battlefield: 3 beta, Im getting around 40fps at fully maxed out settings at only 1440x768, which I think is too low, and my GPU should perform better - according to an official post by the nvidia website, a gtx 580 user should expect 60fps average at max settings @1920x1080.

However, the system the benchmarks on the Nvidia website are carried out on feature 8gb of RAM and a i7-2600k cpu.

Do you think this could be where my system is falling down?

If I were to upgrade to upgrade the following:

Mobo ---> Asus P8P67 pro
CPU ----> i5 2500k
RAM ----> 8GB Corsair Vengeance

would I notice an improvement?

Thanks,

Pretty much. I mean, wait for more insight from others before you buy, but i think you will see a large increase. I have 2x 6850's (worse than 580) and im getting 40fps average on max@1920x1080(except AA). I also have 8gigs ram, 2500k, and a fancy board, but it shouldn't hinder your performance

I'm confused, are you running a native 1080 monitor at 768? Is this a limitation of the beta? Since you are unlikely to be GPU limited, I think you would get more benefit from bumping up to 1080 than getting another 20FPS

If performance scales strongly with resolution, it's something with your GPU or your settings. Is CPU physix on, have you updated drivers?
