Hi all,

I'm running an Asus Z97-P mobo with 8GB of DDR 3, an i5-4690k @ 3.50Ghz with a 4GB GTX 970. I game on a 48" HD TV so won't need any more than 1080p in the short and medium-term.

It'd be nice to play everything at 1080p, 60fps, max settings.

A) Would you bother upgrading anything?
B) If so, what?

Thank you!

Chris

The 970 should be fairly capable of handling all 1080p titles...are you not getting 60 FPS in every game you play? If you aren't then an upgrade to the 1070 would give you the more noticeable performance increase.

Even the GTX1060 6gb would be fine for 1080p but to answer the OP's question, your system should be fine for 1080p.

The 970 already pushes the majority of AAA games at 1080p 60 FPS. The reason why I wouldn't advise an upgrade to the 1060 would be due to the relatively small performance increases the OP would see. Why invest in a 1060 when the 970 delivers very close if not above 60 FPS mins/avgs on most titles? In my opinion, it would be better to put money towards a 1070 a little bit further down the line, that way the OP can enjoy higher refresh rate gaming, or have wiggle room for upgrading to 1440p in the long term.
