hey,

i'm currently using a 2500k that is on a stable 4.7 gh, i'm however seeing quite a lot of youtube videos where cpu's with a higher threadcount show higher frames or lower min frames.

upgrading to a 2600k would cost me an extra 40 euros, upgrading to a 3770k would cost 90 to a 100 euros, is it worth it for gaming?

i'm using a p67 msi motherboard
arctic freezer 33 cooler
8gb 2133mhz ram
gtx 1060 3gb
250gb ssd

thanks

Seeing how the i7-2600k has held up so well after 6 years is a testament to how good it is. Because of it I added a i7 to my new build instead of a i5. In my opinion, a i7 adds at least a year to the competitiveness of a CPU.

If you are on the brink of getting a whole new system then I'd suggest buying nothing new. But if you want another year out of it then get the 2600k.

But the scale and the ease of OC is different, on my Q9550 and E6600 you were lucky to get 10%, and had to balance many variables, it was the last of the difficult OCing. Now, set a multi, and you are done, i've been running at 25% OC on my ivy for the last 5 years.
