Upgrading 32-bit to 64-bit

Hello,

Within the next two days I will be upgrading my RAM from 2GB to 6GB, and thus upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit. The issue I have is with the clean install that will have to take place.

When I clean install from 32-bit to 64-bit, I understand that my programs (iTunes, video games)and applications (java, adobe) will be removed. However, does this also mean that my files (i.e. pictures, video, music, downloads) will not be stored in a "Windows.old" file, or will the files be retained and retrieve-able after the clean install?

they will not be retrieveable.

you can back them up to a usb flash drive or an external hard drive though

it may put them in a windows.old folder, personally I would back them up myself, perhaps the whole hdd rather than trusting the installation program.

Sounds good. I don't seem to have enough space on my Flash Drive (8GB) to store all of my files, so the videos will have to take the bite and go bye bye.
