Thanks again forum people, you've helped me build my last 2 rigs, both have worked out well, time for another! My last build is now over 3 years old, I'm looking to get another 3 out of this one. Last build was centered around a Intel E2160 (1.8) w/ a 8800GT. I'm going to try and use 2 things from this old build;
First, the case, I like the case, should be big enough for anything I buy nowadays too; COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP
Secondly, I'd like to try and re-use my power supply, hasn't failed me yet, it's 3 years old, hoping it last a few more, it's; CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS
I'm a little worried about the PSU being a little on the old side, so... what would you guys do?
Now, onto the new parts! But first, my budget.... it's about $600. I may need to break it a little I guess if the PSU needs to be purchased.
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" (my data drive, most applications) ($79.99)
GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ($128.99)
[strike]SAPPHIRE 100328L Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 ($119.99)[/strike]
MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 ($164.99)
Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core ($124.99)
OCZ Solid 3 SLD3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" 60GB SATA III MLC (for the OS, a few apps maybe) ($99.99)
[strike]G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ($59.99)[/strike]
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL ($54.99)
That's it! Well? I'm not used to seeing my MB be the most expensive item (usually it's the video card), but I've always believed in getting a quality MB. Is the video card too weak? I do game occasionally, but these days it's mainly just League of Legends, I may get Skyrim though, maybe BF3, but this should still handle that ok, right?
So, tell me what you all think. I've been out of the build game since.... well, my last build 3 years ago.. lol So I haven't kept up on hardware much. Pick my build apart..
Thanks!!!
Mike
