Upgrading 6950, £450 budget

Hi,

I currently have the following card:

Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 DirectCU II 2048MB GDDR5

It's been a good card but it's beginning to struggle on the newer games - forcing me to use low settings (although running well enough).

I'd like to be able to max out some games though and so I'm looking to make an upgrade. I have around £450 to spend but that's maximum, I'd prefer something around £350 if there isn't a huge difference.

I've spotted the 7970 which seems to be good value but I'm very outdated with Graphics Cards. The GForce 770 also looks to be around my budget but not sure if it's really worth more than a 680 (or similar).

The rest of my components are:

MOBO: Asus P8Z68-V PRO Z68 Socket 1155
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache
RAM: G-Skill 8GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit CL7 (7-8-7-24) 1.5V
SSD: Samsung 64 GB (sorry, not sure exactly which one)

I'll be gaming on 1080p if that helps.

Any advice and suggestions would be great, thanks!

My PSU won't be a worry, probably wasn't clear but my ram is 8GB already. Would the 770 be decent for another two years or so (maybe too hard to answer?).

sorry about the PSU thing. i think posted in the wrong thread. but i thought you had 4 GB ram as you stated "RAM: 2x G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit CL7 (7-8-7-24) 1.5V"
and GTX 770 should be decent for another 2.5-3 years. though there maybe some problem with your card. id expect it to run most games at high settings.at 1080p.

Sorry guys, I do have 8GB I just put a '2x' as in 2 sticks of 4GB RAM - I've changed it as that was obviously not clear.

The GTX 770 sounds okay then, as I said I'd expect a new Graphics Card to last me 2 years.
