Upgrading 8400GS, $245.32 budget

Has to be a bit less than 245. What would be the best bang for my buck? I wanna be able to run every new game with max setting and with really good FPS! Any recommendation? But I won't be able to buy anything online. I'm planning on going to a store in California later on the day. Would you recommend me a good card please? Also my monitor resolution is 1920x1080, Asus motherboard, 8GS of ram and an I7 CPU

hd7870 is the best bang for buck within that budget.

the gtx660 is outclassed by the hd7870 and the gtx660 ti is out of your budget. So try looking for the best deal you can get. My friend found a xfx hd7950 for $250 at a local pc store sometimes you can find good deals. gtx660 ti, hd7870, hd7950 are the cards you should look for try finding a good deal.

That's what I thought! According to frys they have it on stock for 250... is this a good buy?

Also would I be able to play games like Battle field 3, Counter Strike GO, Crysis 2 with really good playable FPS on max with 1920x1080 res?

^^ that is a good gpu.
well, you should be able to run those games smoothly with mid-high settings but I dont know about max AA and ultra settings with all the eye candies turned on in battlefield3 and crysis 2. My fps drops below 50 time to time in crysis 2 multiplayer even with my Asus gtx670 direct cu II top OC when I run it maxed out. Aside from blattlefield 3 and crysis 2, you should be able to run the rest maxed out.
