[SOLVED] Upgrading 8700 to 3900X

So I will be upgrading from a 8700 into a 3900X + ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO. I will be getting to 4.6Ghz.

Right now, I use a ML360R from cooler master.

12C/24T would have a lot more heat than 6C/12T so would the cooler be enough, or should I get a 360 EK copper rad for an open loop?

I would be playing some games like CS and R6 but not any AAA games and I only do very mild editing.

That cooler is fine. The 3900x is very efficient using 7nm compared to the 14nm of the 8700 .

For gaming there will be no benefit from this change. Your benefit will be limited to your editing. Seems an expensive change for someone doing ‘mild’ editing.

Cooling my 3900X with Corsair H100i PRO RGB. No temp issues in regular use to speak of. Does get warm in Handbrake depending on settings used though. Still, have it installed in small ITX case.
