upgrading 98 to xp pro

need some help. i probably went about doing this all wrong but here's what i
did: upgraded to Xp. learned that the upgrade option did not convert to
ntfs. uninstalled xp (stupid). i tried to reinstall xp using the "new
install" feature. tried to delete the existing partition and got an error:
can not continue with set up, set up files needed exist on that partition (in
a nut shell). exited setup. tried to re-reinstall using upgrade and got an
error message about Microsoft shared fax client blocking set up. what the...
what's going on!!

use a regular bootdisk and fdisk to delete all the partitions , then try
again with the CD

Haggis's reply was bottom posted... Sort of...

OE defaults to top posting. It would appear that Haggis either has a
blank signature as default (which causes the two line feeds followed by
the -- sig delimiter,) or he cut his sig (after the delimiter) while
failing to delete the line feeds and sig delimiter.
