Hello Everyone,i have an old 2008 HP Desktop PC.I have decided to upgrade it simply because i have a lot of memories attached with it and i need your kind help to upgrade it.

Facts:- Desktop name - HP Pavillion a6550in
Motherboard - FOXCONN Napa MCP73M01H1
Processor Socket - 775 Supports upto intel core 2 duo e8600 (O.C. with aftermarket cooling)
Now here's the problem

1)i want to upgrade the memory to 4GB (2*2GB) and i can't choose the memory. The mobo support site says that it can support pc2-6400 dimm. But crucial memory advisor website shows pc2-8500 memory is compatible.Link: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-a6550in

2) Also i would like to replace the processor core 2 duo e4700(ver slow!!) with e8600 and an compatible aftermarket cpu cooler for Overclocking

Any help would be appreciated,
Also thanks for reading the long query.

Just saying, but you could get a better modern, refurbished system for the money you plan to spend. What you plan to do will put stress on an older PSU.

You may have to replace it (sooner or later you WILL have to replace it) What are you using the system for? Are you in India? If so, the refurbish option is out.

Does your system have a VGA card?

8500 memory runs at 1066Mhz. It may fit in your system and run in your system, but it may not run at 1066Mhz, that usually requires more voltage than 1.8V.

The e8600 uses a faster FSB (1333Mhz, vs 800Mhz) that, and overclocking such an old system is taking a risk.
