Question upgrading a pre built pc

Hi,
im pretty new to whats inside a pc so double checking i can
i purchased a hp pavilion power 580-015na a while back and was looking to upgrade the graphics card to something powerful enough to run VR decently
i understand that i would need to upgrade the power supply as the 180w wouldn't be enough

is there any specific PSU ill need for the motherbaord
and is there any graphics cards recommended?
any other information i should know when upgrading even if i seems like basic knowledge?

If your PC has the i5-7400 CPU, then you should be able to get away with just installing a new power supply and a Graphics card. Any graphics card will work as long as you buy a high enough wattage PSU. Do you have a budget in mind? I can give you some recommendations.

Sadly there is almost no way to upgrade that to be able to do VR. The power supply is listed as uATX which isn't a standard size and even then they max out at 380W if you can even find one. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/power-supply/#t=6&xcx=0

Any standard atx power supply and gpu will be able to connect to that motherboard.

You need to change the case in order to fit a standard atx psu, however.

You can put your old system motherboard and GPU in a new ATX case with a new ATXPSU.

Biggest question is has HP put a proprietary screw in one of the mounts so that you cannot remove the motherboard? I have taken apart much older HPs and run into that problem.

This was 12+ years ago when I tried to upgrade a friends prebuilt HP. HP basically used a rivet on one of the motherboard standoffs so that you couldn't remove the motherboard without damaging the case and making it useless.

Well if you have the PC, look inside and see if all of the screws are normal. They should be Philips.
