Can someone tell me if a Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB GDDR5 would be an upgrade from the R7 250 2GB card. I have a Cyberpowerpc GUA950A. Thanks to any and all who respond. Also , any other cards you would suggest that would be compatible with my build. Thanks again

They are the same exact card just renamed.

HD 7950 -> R9 280
HD 7970 -> R9 280x

The reason not to buy 2xx is because you're paying $189.99 for what you can get for $120.

I highly recommend getting an HD7950 or HD7970. They are rebranded 280/280x cards, thus beating out the 750ti, the r9 270, as well as saving you money.

P.S. Yes, it works fine with a 500w psu.

Thank you for responding, I currently have a cyberpowerPC GUA950a, will the cards you suggest work with this, meaning is it the right size card for my system, The mother board is a MSI 760GM P23, just wanna be sure before I make a purchase.

I believe it is 350watts

also them cards you suggest, which look great , I can't seem to find, I looked on Amazon, newegg, tigerdirect, Ebay has them but I'm not sure about buying from a non known entity. Any suggestions??

the 750 ti is a great card and will be a great upgrade since your PSU is a 350 i assume it has a pcie wire and if it does this card is great and will work on a 300w PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487024&cm_re=750_ti-_-14-487-024-_-Product

Thanks for your input, much appreciated. I did just purchase a 500w 80 Plus Certified EVGA Power Supply just to be safe. So I'm not sure whether to go with the 750 ti, or the others mentioned. Kinda of confusing on what is the better card for the money. I'm not really a hardcore gamer, but would, if possible like to get the best I can to do 1080 graphics with the equipment I have.

if you can go for the 7950 its a better choice then the 750 ti by alot but if your not a hard core gamer then go for the 750 ti, if you play new games the 7950 is a better choice

It would need to be used because as I previously mentioned AMD rebranded the 7950/70 as "new" cards - the "r9 280" and "r9 280x." You should be able to get one around $100-$120, it simply can't be beat price to performance wise. I had a Sapphire Dual-X which worked great. Sold it recently on Ebay. Used =/= bad.

Edit:
There's plenty around. Here's one for $120OBO on ebay

And another for $115 and only $10 shipping. I wouldn't even bother with trying to get an offer. Someone is going to buy it outright, better jump on it quick.

Looks great and I am very close to hitting the Buy It Now option, however I read in the description that this is for a PCI 3.0, upon looking over the specs of my motherboard, I don't see it listed, I just see PCIe, I assume if it works it may not be at full capability. Am I over-analyzing this?? I sure hope I'm not coming across as an idiot, LOL.

In addition, I'm running windows 8.1 will this work with the upcoming directx 12 for when windows 10 releases and is this a rather painless install?

Don't worry, PCI-Ex cards are backwards compatible. You can use a PCI-Ex 3.0 card on a PCI-Ex 1.0 slot and vice versa with no problem.

I hope you purchased the $115 7950, because just as I suspected it's already sold!! Yes as Bruno stated it's backwards compatible. You have a 2.0 x16 PCIe lane and you're going to get 100% of the 7950's capabilities.

Thanks so much, you been a tremendous help.

Also, Do I need to install anything other than just pulling out the old card and replacing with the new?? Will Windows 8.1 recognize it, I'm kinda of new at this and want to be safe with my new computer

Sorry for all these questions, now everyone in the world knows I'm a Newbie, but anyway... I just bought this Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438016

EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC 3 Year Warranty Power Supply Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Does this have the right cables/adapters to power the card? Thanks Fellas for helping.

It will work fine on Windows systems 7 through 10. You'll only need to swap out the old card for the new and your PC will recognize it, although you'll still want to install the latest AMD drivers. It's perfectly compatible with that PSU as it has 2 6-pin PCIe connectors, and that's what this graphics card requires.

ok, thanks , one last question, is there a reason not to buy the new R9 280 or 280x as I can get one brand new as opposed to new, or are they not the same?

They are the same exact card just renamed.

HD 7950 -> R9 280
HD 7970 -> R9 280x

I did just install a new 500 watt 80 plus certified power supply, all is working fine although there were two connectors marked CPU which confused me as to why 2 of these. Anyways upon looking on a spec sheet for the R9 280 it says it recommends a 750 watt which creates some pause now, is the 500 not sufficient?
