Good morning,

I am planning on upgrading my graphics card and would like some advice or opinions on what I plan on using. I would like to keep my budget at $300.

Currently my card is a NVIDIA GTS 250. My monitor's display is at 1680 x 1050 (32 bit). My mobo is a BIOSTAR G41-M7 with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz. I run my machine with Windows 7, 64 bit. I only have 4GB ram right now, but I will be upgrading that to 8GB when I order the graphics card. I am not planning on upgrading my CPU until a later date, but can move that up if needed be. I also use a Corsair 750 watt power supply.

With that info out there, I am looking to upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 650 ti (namely this one EVGA SSC 01G-P4-3652-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card .

I have seen this one recommended in a few sites and threads which I checked out. I play MMOs mostly and plan on joining the Elder Scrolls Online when it comes out. I will also be playing Crysis 3 and plan to continue playing Skyrim for a while longer. I have yet to really get into overclocking, and I do not plan to overclock.

Does this set up make sense, and more importantly, have I overlooked a compatibility issue? If not, what would you suggest for the budget (obviously that might need to be bumped up a bit if I need to upgrade my CPU as well). Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

this is really all you would need to make that rig of your kick with some new life. I don't think you need to bump up your ram if you plan on upgrading your cpu in a year or so...you should be fine if 4 gig as long as you kill backgrounds apps when gaming.

Here are two other cards with tons of value:

If you dont enjoy 5 more fps of studdery AMD action, I recomend a GTX660ti.

Also, getting a new motherboard/cpu/Ram combo will increase framerates 30%

GTX660ti with Core2quad playing BF3 ultra: 30-40FPS
GTX660ti with Corei3/i5 playing BF3 ultra: 45-80FPS
