Upgrading advice needed

Feb 10, 2011
Hey guys

i am thinking of upgrading my pc to 1080p gaming. Currently i am running a Q6600 rig with 4gb of ram. i aim to keep the HDD etc..

i am thinking of getting a GTX560 Ti as GPU. i will probably pair this up with a mobo that will allow SLi in the future and 4gb of ram. is 8bgb need for gaming?

i am confused on what i need to get for a processor, i don't want to spend more money than is needed?
Resolution @ 1080 for gaming isn't all that demanding. Your Q6600 with 4GB of memory may be just fine with an upgraded GPU. May want to try just that and see where you stand. Not sure where you stand on overclocking, but the Q6600 would respond well to that and show an improvement while gaming.

The GTX 560 Ti is a good card, however at that same performance level the HD 6950 1GB is a bit cheaper. Just food for thought...
I would say that upgrading your GPU is more important than upgrading the CPU, but no... not the PSU. The PSU will need to be sized appropriately. With the HD 6950 you should be fine if your PSU is 450w or higher.

where is the 6950 1gb a little cheaper?
