Hi, about a year ago i bought a X51 and i was and still am very happy with it, however im finally ready to give it a bigger boost. i have a slight knowledge of computer components but not enough to trust my self with everything being compatible. my current rig is

745 gtx
Intel Core i5 4460
Mother board:
Manufacturer Alienware
Model 0PGRP5 (SOCKET 0)
Version A02
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model Haswell
Chipset Revision 06

im looking to moving everything over to a bigger case, along with a 750watt PSU and a gtx 970
my concern is that im moving everything over before i get the GTX 970 and i dont want to break my pc with to much power. will this rig work?

Any suggestions or concerns would greatly be appreciated!

everything seems compatable but i cannot find my motherboard on the website, does anyone know if i will need a new MOBO?

Whats the wattage of your power brick? Regardless, you should be able to install a GTX 960 in your current X51 case using either power brick. There are mini-ITX models that will definitely fit plus an ASUS with a blower style HSF that will expel the hot air out of the case. Its about $200 for a 4GB model and would absolutely blow your current GTX 745 out of the water (like triple your FPS in games). It just seems a shame to have the cool little X51 with its portability and move it all to a standard PC case.

hi, thanks for answering. i believe i currently have a 240 watt power brick. i spent alot of time looking at the GTX 960 and yes it would be a big jump from my 745 however im looking for something relatively long term and i really want to never have a problem with running games high-ultra for a long time. unfortunately the 960 is just barely under the performance i need. the new case i have already purchased is still very mobile yet big enough to hold alot of future upgrades. my current upgrades will come out about 350 with the 970 and new PSU, and everything else is compatible, but i still cannot find out if i will need a new motherboard or not.

so im still stuck with the questions.
1. is my motheboard compatible with the gtx 970?
2. is 750 watts to much?

thanks for your time!

I believe the motherboard is an offset mini ITX board making it incompatible but I do need to do more research so do not take my word for it yet.
