upgrading amd fx-4100

I am planning to uprade my fx-4100.
I have as a graphics card asus GeForce gtx 750 ti and i dont know what to buy as a cpu. i would love to spend 200 euros on a good gaming cpu

Go for intel i5 4670k or if you prefer amd then the fx 8350. I have these in two different system and not have an issue for the last year.

I'm not so sure I understand the logic behind spending £100 on a GPU and £200 on a CPU ... that's bass-ackwards.

The i5 4670k is great...AND ...if you prefer amd,then the fx 8320 and 8350 are pretty awesome too

Well, he wanted to upgrade the CPU, not the whole computer, so he needs something that is socket compatible with the FX-4100. FX-4100 is an AM3+ socket, so his choices are:

FX-6350 Six 'core'. FX-8320 Eight 'core'. FX-8350 Eight 'core'.

Or, you could just go big with the FX-9000 series - the only difference being the speed between the 8000 and 9000 series FX processors (except of course for power usage!), but at that point you're running into the max as far as your price range. The general consensus though is that the 6 core FX-6350 is the best compromise between power usage, cost, and capability depending on your usage scenario. Cost is about $130 USD for an almost 4ghz 6 core processor.

FX8320 if your motherboard supports it for sure. Then spend a little more for a decent aftermarket cooler and overclock. Your system will feel like a new machine.
