In a PC, all the parts work together. Before long, if you change one, you have to change them all. Resulting in a whole new PC.

Upgrade the CPU? Oh look...you need a new motherboard. And new RAM.
Upgrade just the GPU? Then your old CPU is choking things, and you see no real benefit.
Oh, and that 10 year old PSU is ready to die.

I saw a PC on Craigslist that had 320GB of Memory. That thing must've been a monster. You could probably have 2 Google Chrome tabs open at once. :)

i have built 3 pcs through out hte years ... this last one being the last..... i really dont want to do it again! because i already know i can .. i have learned....

btw i have a water cooler on the old pc... should i take it apart and putt it on the new pc? or doesn tit matter anymore? .. no i never overlocked and dont want to.

Depending on use and price point.

$500 or under, just buy one.
Over that, you can get a much better parts list for the same money.
The prebuilt guys will show a flashy system, with several substandard parts. Looks good, but runs mediocre.

If you're not going to OC in the new PC, do not bother about the liquid cooling thing.

Build your own this puts you back on the top of the world. The video card could be overkill depending on your monitor their no reason to get a GTX 1080 unless your at the least running a 2K monitor. For a 4K monitor resolution you need 2 of the video cards and up the power supply to the 850 Watt model.

thank you all of you i cant thank you individually

me and my father share a 4k monitor.. we bought one recently because we needed a monitor we found out immidetly that a 4k was almost barely more expensive so we went for 4k right away.. .it has none of that HDR but at this price it doesnt need to either.
i already have a gaming laptopt with 4k but the video card is old and i cant upgrade it . i am selling it to my father in order to get a desktop so i can upgrade it in thefuture.. my father does not need more powerful laptop then that because he does not require gaming.
