I have an a8n-sli deluxe board with an athlon 3200+, 3gigs of ddr ram at 400 and a 9800gt

I have been looking at an opteron 180 for $55(which is 2.4ghz dual core) and I plan to overclock it so I can run fairly new games at decent frame rates.

How will this work out? thanks guys!!

Im very interested in Batman Arkham City and Crysis Warhead. Thanks!!!

It would be better for you to save for better parts, you might be able to run those games with everything on low, but even then i'm sure your system will struggle.

Even just moving up LGA 775 would allow you to access chips that are worlds more powerful then what's on the ancient Socket 939 platfrom. If i were you i'd gradually save up and pick up a nice Sandy Bridge chip and Z68 or even P67 board, or if you don't need that much power and want to go a bit cheaper, then i'd go over to the AMD side and probably pick up either an AMD FX 6100/4100 and grab a cheap but decent AM3+ board.

Hard to say but spending money on a 939 system is hard. I have two in the closet and one running. My OPTY is doing fine with a 8800GT installed and does OK at 1280 x 1024 res. I am though not sure how your system is going to do with those two games I am doing fine with Mass effect 2 though. If that is your only option, budget wise I'm inclined to say go for it since it will play most things that is 2 years old or older.
