I am currently using a Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 motherboard with an e6600, 4Gb of Corsair (2 sticks of PC6400) and Vista 32. I recently updated from F4 BIOS to F5 and noticed that Gigabyte updated the BIOS to F6 as well as the drivers for the Chipset, LAN and SATA RAID.

My question is...should I bother to update the above to the newer version even though I am not having any issues? Most of the issues I am probably having seem to be coming from Vista...not the motherboard. Is there any harm in updating the drivers...or the BIOS other than screwing it up :pt1cable:

I generally will upgrade to the newer drivers but wanted to know what others are doing.

Thanks for your input,
Tim

I agree with jeditim if your rig is stable there is no reason to upgrade your bios or other mobo component drivers. If you wan to do it, DO NOT TRUST THE APPLICATIONS THAT DO THE BIOS UPGRADE RUNNING OVER WINDOWS. DO NOT DO IT. PERIOD. If there is anything wrong in the process, (believe me it does happen), you can turn your mobo in to junk. Check www.biosman.com for the proper way to do a bios upgrade. Do it always from a cd with system files, or a floppy disk. I trusted Asus utility and my mobo ...has to be replaced, since there is none in Mexico that can reprogrem eprom chips..
