Hello, I am hoping to upgrade my ~7 year old pc this Black Friday. I am in need of advice on what I should buy for my needs.

My current PC:
i7 950
gtx 660
g skill 6gb
sabertooth x58

I'm going to be keeping my case, hdd, and psu.
Cooler Master HAF 912
WD Black 3TB
EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2

I'd like to get a new cpu, gpu, mobo, ssd, ram but am unsure of compatibility, bottle necking issues, how much ram is enough etc. I need some suggestions!

I will be using this for gaming, streaming, photoshop, and general office work.
I have a budget of ~$700 for a quality build.

Thanks!

I didn't add an SSD as I went just over budget, however I wasn't sure how to reduce the parts cost. I didn't want to go with either a cheaper CPU or graphics card so I guess that's your decision.

Also, maybe with some SALES you can drop the price a bit.

Personally, THIS is the SSD I recommend (250GB, Samsung): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3kL7YJ/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz75e250bam

128GB is enough for some people, but I found that would not have been enough for me even though I don't install games to it. Over a year, Windows starts to get a bit bloated and games and other programs save data.
PCPARTPICKER is great for comparing builds.

When you make a new build you can choose the CPU, then the motherboard and other parts should then only show the COMPATIBLE parts.

I'll assume USD pricing and give an example (probably need new Windows license too, though I see a lot of confusion about that.. some people use the Assistive version of W10 which Microsoft is going to stop allowing but hasn't yet AFAIK.... Google about that if interested)

You can also SELL those parts, and possibly your Windows license with it though that may be hard if not selling an entire PC..

Okay, will come back with $700USD (?) build.

for your rig?
Yup! you need new proc, mobo, ram and graphic card...plus an SSD and probably a new copy of Windows (unfortunately you will need a new Windows copy, if you have the OEM license)
The thing is...I dunno how the prices will drop during black friday or cyber monday.

But you can aim to get something like Ryzen 5 1600, a B350 mobo, 16GB DDR4 RAM and a GTX1060 6GB. Improvise as you see the special prices during the special sale.

Honorable

240Gb should be the minimum if you have games and stuff. Otherwise you will be running only the OS basically from the SSD.
For gaming, go with the i5 8400, its better.

Thanks for the answers guys! They've been extremely helpful.

Is OS tied to something and that's why I can't use my current copy of windows?

Do you guys know of any recent informative and accurate articles/reviews on intel vs amd/amd vs nvidia?

Thanks
