Upgrading Core2Duo e8600 3.3ghz to i3-3240?

Hi guys i have a Core2Duo e8600 @3.3ghz it would be a waste of money to upgrade to a core i3? i looked on internet and they are almost the same.. i mainly use my computer for gaming so, it would be a good idea to upgrade? or im fine and the difference its not much btw those 2? thanks in advance

It is a worthy upgrade but you'll have the hassle of switching out your motherboard as well

There may not be too much difference between the two processors, but the upgraded motherboard (necessary to upgrading the processor), could provide you with other upgrades (SATAIII, USB3.0, PCI-E3.0); not to mention a better upgrade path later on down the road.

if you mainly use your computer for gaming, i'd recommend upgrading to a better video card, as it's much more noticeable and much more cost effective.
