I currently have a I7-2600 (I wasn't aware of overclocking at the time) and a MSI P67A-C43 Motherboard. I want to upgrade for Rendering video (Sony vegas) and 3D animation (Cinema 4D) aswell as for gaming. I will probably overclock if there is a big benefit and also any custom coolers? I'm unsure on the budget at the moment.. really depends how good the hardware is.

Full specs:
CPU: I7-2600 @ 3.4
RAM: 16GB
Mobo: MSI P67A-C43
GPU: Sapphire HD 7970 OC GHZ Edition
PSU: ThermalTake Toughpower XT 875W
Storage: 2 x 2TB HDD's

Yes it's the same socket, but originally the plan was that you would have to have a Z68 with a BIOS update or a Z77 to run it. Some P67s got official support; I don't don't see anything definitive on MSI's page:
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-C43.html#/?div=BIOS
and
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-C43.html#/?div=CPUSupport
indicating whether it got a BIOS update to support IB.

However, this page:
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/P67A-C43_%28B3%29.html
says it will work just fine with a BIOS update. So I'd recommend you either do some more research on your specific mobo to see if there is someone out there who has run Ivy or grab a 2600k, if you think it's worth the upgrade.
Sony Vegas can be OpenCL accelerated, so you're set up for that perfectly with the 7970. As far as Cinema 4D goes, refer to this chart and pick out something that would suit your needs/budget:
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/06/01/intel-core-i7-4770k-cpu-review/7
And yes, there's a huge benefit from custom coolers. Pay $30-50 to get 20-30% more out of your CPU? Sign me up.
And, of course, all of the Intel offerings on the top half of the chart are superb gamers.

Enabled OpenCL for sony vegas and the playback is so much smoother, cant say for rendering it just stops half way or doesn't render at all. The benchmarks of Cinebench makes me think there isn't much in getting a big upgrade, i may just get a i7-2600k or a i7-3770K with better cooling and overclock it? What do you think?

My reason in looking for a upgrade is for faster rendering and better performance in programs. When some collisions or explosions occur in C4D it can get pretty laggy.

I have no personal experience with Sony Vegas, but I looked through a couple of these results and the may be able to help you out:
https://www.google.com/search?q=sony+vegas+opencl+reder+freeze&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US😱fficial&client=firefox-a#q=sony+vegas+opencl+render+freeze&rls=org.mozilla:en-US😱fficial&safe=off&spell=1
And I think you're right on track with your CPU logic; 2600k/2700k would be a good upgrade for you at this point. (If you were to go with a 3770k, you'd have to get a new motherboard)

Thanks ill look into the link. Isn't the i7-3770K a 1155 socket.. the same as the i7-26/700K?
