I'm planning on upgrading my desktop's CPU and motherboard next year, hopefully early next year, and there are basically three sets of options I'm considering, all with different price points, and I'm going to list them all below with prices, including taxes and shipping. I'll still be using the same graphics card, power supply, and case, and most likely the same memory/RAM.

I mainly play games on my desktop, but I occasionally edit videos and photos.

I basically want to know:
- which set of upgrades will give me the best performance for how much I'll be spending
- how much better each set of upgrades will perform in comparison to my current setup
- and how many more features/options I'll have in comparison to my current setup

CURRENT SETUP
Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Quad-Core 3.4GHz Processor
Motherboard - MSI 970A G46 AM3/AM3+ Motherboard
Graphics Card - Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT BOOST 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Memory - 8GB (4 x 2GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws X-Series DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit
Power Supply - Corsair TX-950 950W 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply

I've never overclocked any of my parts. I've never overclocked my CPU mainly due to the fact that the motherboard I'm using can't really handle a 24/7 overclocked CPU, as well as other overclocked parts. It's a fairly low-end AM3/AM3+ motherboard.

The APU Build is the cheapest option, that's for sure. Being the cheapest option, do you think I would see any performance gain in games and photo/video editing?

The AM3+ Build is something I've considered for a long time, but how much more performance gain would I see going from the APU Build to the AM3+ Build?

The Intel Build is the most expensive option, but would I see a noticeable performance gain with how much more I'd be spending (especially in comparison to the APU Build?)

Do you think the performance gain from the APU Build to the AM3+ Build w/FX-8350 is worth the extra $200?

Definetly!

How is the AMD build more expensive? Its cheaper as far as I can see. You don't need an APU since you already have a GPU that blows it out of the water. Go 8350. But if you have 70 extra buck get the 4770k and get a notch down on the motherboard IDK. up to you
