I have a 4770k, and will upgrade this month. It is a tax write off, so would make sense to buy this system and then sell parts on ebay from last build. Can anyone recommend me a good CPU to upgrade from? I can always buy a new 4770k, if its worth sticking with

I mainly game at 3440x1400 with ultra settings etc and some web browsing

I don't overclock ( I know it's a sin ) but willing to try it :)

Why do you need to upgrade from a CPU that is still over kill for today's need??

I don't, however it is a tax write off, so either I upgrade my rig or the money goes to goverment

I didn't know 4770k was overkill, as I said, I can always buy a new 4770k and then ebay the old one :)

Then just do that o3o....but since you do not OC then just get the 4770(no k) 😛

You could of course build a new top of the line system, however without knowing budget etc, its hard to make suggestions, If this is used for practical reasons Video editing etc, then there might be some reason to actually build a new PC based on the 2011 socket.

I mainly game at those resolutions, still to play watch dogs etc dont plan on getting4k soon and web browsing.. no video editing

the budget would be around £1500, I would be getting a GTX 980 of course :)

of course I would always clock if its as simple as getting aftermarket cooler and changing some options?

i7-5960x would be the best, x99 motherboard and some ddr4 ram.

a single gpu would not be ideal with this setup. either wait for the gtx990 to come out or just go with sli 970s as they are a much better bang for buck than the 980. around holidays we might see some on sale too.

yes the budget could be stretched, I was thinking 2x980 and then sell them once 990 comes out

The 4790k looks good, can you recommend me a good mobo/ram?

I will be using fractal design r4, gtx 980 ( not decided on 2 yet ) and a samsung 256 pro ssd upto now
