Upgrading CPU in an eMachine EL1352

i have and eMachine EL1352 and want to upgrade the CPU from a Athlon II 170u 2.00GHz to a Athlon II-X4 640 3.0GHz Socket AM3. will it work? i have no idea what kind of CPU socket and architecture the motherboard will support.

Your current CPU is an AM2+ socket and the x4-640 is AM3. Luckily AM3 processors can go into AM2+ boards, but you might need a BIOS update for the MB to correctly identify the new CPU. Update to the latest BIOS before you remove your old CPU.
