So I just upgraded from my i5 6600k to a r5 5600x and I am a bit confused as to how to activate my windows license. On my current pc I have a 256gb sata ssd as the boot drive and I would like to make my new nvme the boot drive when I upgrade, however I am not sure the proper way to do this. I just want to be able to install windows 10 as easily as possible and with no driver combability issues like I had on my old PC and I am uncertain if the easiest way to this would be to format my storage devices and then perform a clean install of windows onto my nvme. I have checked multiple articles for advice but every article seems to this process differently and has just confused me more. I also do not have my product key with me however I do have a retail version of windows 10 with the digital license linked to my windows account.

look at this before starting - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reactivating-windows-10-after-a-hardware-change-2c0e962a-f04c-145b-6ead-fb3fc72b6665

if licence is linked to an email address now, you set.

best idea is only have the NVME attached to pc when you install WIn 10, no other drives
follow this guide: https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-do-a-clean-installation-of-windows-10.3170366/
once win 10 boots off the nvme, attach the ssd and its up to you if you format it right away. PC shouldn't try to use it anyway.

Thank you very much this helped out a lot and was kinda the answer I was hoping for.
