Hi all,
I’m planning to upgrade my old pc because I’m afraid that it might die completely in the near future. For the upgrade, I would need to replace the CPU, Motherboard, RAM, and buy an additional SSD. I’ve picked together a few components, but I’m not sure if they would work together (I’m kinda new at this). I would like to put an emphasis on parts that will last for at least the next 5 years, but don’t really know what to look at in terms of quality.

Could you guys give me some advice on:
  1. Whether the 4 upgraded parts would work together.
  2. Whether the upgraded parts would work together with the old GPU and HDD
  3. Do I need any other components?
  4. If you have any better suggestions for the upgrade, please feel free to comment! I just picked some stuff together that seemed good, but no real thinking behind it ..

Looks great.

The define R4 is too small and has too little airflow for that build. You will need a bigger case with many fans to keep this beast tamed. It will probably work fine in the old case but it will just be very noisy and likely start thermal throttling.

I would try for cas 16 memory instead of 18 and add a decent aftermarket cooler for the processor they run hot under load.

Other than that looks fine.

Nothing wrong with the case you have.

Yeah… but you end up with an MSI mainboard and PNY graphics. Ghetto brand parts that should be avoided.
