Upgrading CPU on Acer AAHD3-VC Motherboard?

Basically, I'm wondering if a BIOS update will be necessary for installing a new cpu on the board? It came with an a6-5400k apu and I recently purchased an Athlon X4 750K. I bought a new gpu as well, HD 7770. My main confusion comes from the fact that the BIOS updates for my system come from Gateway's website and, apparently, they're only patches for pre-existing BIOS problems. So, will a BIOS update be necessary?

I didn't update the BIOS and everything is working after initial start-up. Would've updated it, but was told that I needed to restore windows to do so and didn't want to lose everything. Corsair CX430, Athlon X4 750K, HD 7770 all installed no problem. I am seeing some jumping around in temp and power consumption though.
