Question Upgrading Cpu PC Won’t Boot

so i just upgraded my cpu from a i5-7400 to a i3-9100f. also i added 8gb more of ram. when my old cpu is in my pc boots fine. but when my new one goes it it doesn’t boot. the fans go on for like half a second then stop.

6th and 7th gen cpus + 100 and 200 series motherboards

LGA 1151 V2 <- omitted for reasons unknown, and still not updated to this day.
8th and 9th gen cpus + 300 series motherboards

You are one of many screwed over by that.
The i3-9100F needs a B365 or Z390 to work.

It wouldn't work out of the box; it would need a bios update while using an 8th gen cpu, which you don't have.
B365 and Z390 work with 9th gen out of the box.

If you can, return i3-9100f. Since it is 4c/4t just like your i5 7400, you probably will not see a big difference. Go for 6c/12t like Ryzen 2600 or 3600 or Intel 10th gen
