hi!
I really need help configuring which way to go upgrading our server memory.
I should probably tell you first that i'm quite clueless about these stuff so i would love as much information and tips as you can - thanks!
we have linux operating system - KDE version: 3.5.4-25.el5_4.1 red hat.
from what i know we have 2 razors with 8 slots each.
we want to upgrade the memory as much as we can.
i understand that there is an option to get 16 DDRII memory cards of 8GB.
is that the best way to go?
and if so - how much is one supposed to cost (cause i think they are ripping me off).

thank you very much!

So for your first question about is going 16x8GB the way to go, No.

DDR2 memory is expensive. Especially DDR2 8GB sticks. They only made 8GB modules for server use I believe so it's ECC memory. DDR2 8GB ECC modules go for around 300-400 dollars a pop. Maybe you can get it for cheaper if someone wants to get rid of their old DDR2 modules.

If you go for the 4GB modules, it would be around 80-100 per each stick. Which is still retarded expensive.

So, I would go for the 2GB modules which is around 20-30 per stick x 16. Still expensive, but what can you do, they don't really mass produce DDR2 RAM anymore.
