My PC is for Gaming have 3 drives mainly for older games like Morrrowind modded , but I do play Elite Dangerous High & BF4 running in low until new card goes in.

Main disk is 1.8 TB partitioned into C& D
C is 800Gb total & has 251Gb free that's the OS & all the games , Nothing more too add been stable around this size for ages
D has My documents on it Pictures other data mods.zips ect ( moved)

My question;
Should I just a buy a small SSD for OS only ? as I'm not looking forwarded to any re-install of windows I wish to avoid that , if that's the case.
If so, is it better just to clone the whole of C & D , OR just clone C with the OS and games to an SSD. Then resize the D partition
There are plenty of links around to help with the setup , but just don't know the best SSD for the size and my specs or if in fact I need one , are they that good? for gaming as Ive been reading , mainly from reviews.

Thanks

Solution
Yes, you can use an SSD just like a regular hard drive. I do.

For a 250GB SSD, OS and a whole bunch of applications. Probably a few games.
The stuff that really takes space is music and movies. Have those live on other drives, because the 'speed' does not matter.

1TB SSD are they as reliable as a 1TB hard in SSD read/writing. Can I use a SSD like a hard drive per-say I assume just having OS on a 250GB SSD , not much data moment going on , so better

Ok, would be great if I was able to move/clone/backup/ my OS and a few games over to SDD, leave the rest on hard disk ,then re-partition C/D hard-disk to D , but this is not possible ?

nah, but then again one day. lol

Darn! see what happens when you don't look when crossing ....thought I was on a winner there , just updated the software & saw it.

Update
I moved Steam out to D drive , With BF4 and Elite Dangerous in C total is 228gb ,
Still can move other data out like, Astronomy software
Question
How much spare space do I need with an SSD , ?
Will a SSD 250gb do ?
Two 250gb SSD in a raid , is that a good idea ?
