Hi guys,

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 (rev. 1.0) motherboard (win7 64) but the USBs have never really worked well. I had a quick online looking for a driver update when I came across other people having issues with Renesas (NEC) USB controllers. Someone said once they upgraded the firmware things were better (this was a post from 10years ago), but I can't locate either firmware or updated driver. I went to the Renesas website but I can't make heads or tails of what files I'm looking at under drivers.

Anyone familiar with this USB controller or know of upgrading firmware for them?

You could try the firmware here. The latest drivers are from 2012 so you are probably already using them.

It should show up as Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0.96 (Microsoft) in device manager because it was a draft-USB 3.0 device and not fully compliant with the final XHCI1.0 specification

Thanks for the response, BFG :)

I checked out 'station-drivers' but for some reason nothing will download. I ended up having to cope the link location and pasting in the address bar to get the save as window to popup. Ran the program but kept telling me I have something in the USB3 port and to remove. Only have mouse/keyboard in there which I need to install lol, so Ill have to try find a USB > PS2 adapter then give it another shot.

I ended up copying the file name for the USB & putting into Google & found it on 'Softpedia', so I downloaded it there. The driver I originally had was from 2010 (v2.0.30.0), the new one is 2021 (v2.1.39.0) which seemed to install ok.

Nothing showed up as Microsoft. I even uninstalled the driver then tried letting windows install it, but it couldn't find any driver for it, even after restarting the PC.
