upgrading/fixing old computer

So I decided to fix my old desktop computer. the motherboard was broken.
I just want the computer to work and play most games at the minimal spec, with the least budget.

The old(broken) motherboard was MSI K9N4

The old CPU was AMD Athlon 64 X2

With the new Motherboard, I need to change my CPU too, and i was thinking about AMD Sempron 145

which I think is enough power.

Other part like harddrive, cd drive, and case, I will keep the old one. I think they should be compatible.

Is there anything else I should check? for compatible when upgrading??

If you're upgrading to play games and you have a budget it's ideal to use a processor that includes integrated video. In this case I would recommend buying an APU which is a processor that also processes graphics, then there is no need to buy an expensive graphics card. Here is a cheap motherboard It's a smaller form factor than what you have, but it will fit. For RAM you want it to be fast since APUs do not have their own like graphics cards do, you also want to have 8GB. pretty good choices. don't be afraid to ebay an AM3 and +up dual core or better 3ghz cpu tho. for gaming it will greatly benefit you and alot of games are requiring 3ghz cpus now.

as long as your drives are sata2 you shouldn't have any problems sata 1 i don't imagine there'd be a problem but it's hard to tell sometimes. most everything will down clock to lower spec these days.

oh also don't be afraid to check microcenter.com for faster and cheaper ram kits. they will ship those, just not cpus.
