Hello all,

like the title says, I'm looking to upgrade from 1080p - 1440p when the GTX 980ti comes out, I've heard so much praise for Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and the Acer XB270HU, but, I've also heard so much negatives too,

are these two monitors the best gaming monitors out there? I'd like to hear from people who own them too, because I'm a bit worried about getting a "bad egg" and having to send it back like I hear from so many others,

also, I'm not worried about playing movies and watching YouTube on it etc because I have another monitor for that, currently using x2 Asus VG278HE 27" 144Hz, that's another question, would it even be worth upgrading?

Thanks for reading and looking forward to your answers!

P.S - I was asked about the type of games I play so I'll add them there too -

The Witcher 3
GTA 5
Divinity Original Sin
Diablo 3
Minecraft
Fifa 15
Call of Duty(s)
Assassin's Creed(s)
Metal gear Solid (and the new one out in September)
No MMO's at the moment, may go back to them in the near future

In my opinion no it's not. That's just my personal opinion but only you can decide if you will think it's worthwhile. What's not worthwhile to me might be worthwhile for you. If your dead set on upgrading your monitor than 1440p might be worthwhile to you but in a year or two there might be the possibility that there can be 4k monitors that do 144hz with gsync and all the bells and whistles and you will be looking at upgrading your monitor again.

Only you can really answer whether or not upgrading is going to be worthwhile. The people who are getting bad monitors is due to the GSync from my understanding. At one point in time I was actually considering getting that Asus monitor but decided not to because I thought it was way overpriced based on what you are getting. With the cost of those monitors you could get a 4k monitor that picture quality wise would blow those monitors out of the water. Personally I would keep what you got and hold out for the 4k monitors.

The Witcher 3
GTA 5
Divinity Original Sin
Diablo 3
Minecraft
Fifa 15
Call of Duty(s)
Assassin's Creed(s)
Metal gear Solid (and the new one out in September)
No MMO's at the moment, may go back to them in the near future

I'd love to stick with the 144hz to be honest

Ok well then stay where your at or if you think the 800 dollars is worth it to jump to 1440p then go for it. My honest opinion it's not. I'm still using a 144hz at 1080p and see no reason to upgrade from it anytime soon unless they make 144hz 4k monitors then I will be all in.

So 1080p 144hz - 1440p 144hz isn't worth it full stop?

Well you've convinced me that I should just leave it if it's not that much of a big improvement, thanks for all the replies!
