Hi. So currently I have an old PC which I put a GTX 750 ti SC into to run games.
However when I upgraded I soon learned a lot of games get some crazy stutter with the 4gb of ram. Right now I have some money to burn on it and I'm wondering, currently I have 2x2 gb of ram which is 1333mhz. I was planning on buying hyperX 2x4gb which is 1866mhz. My motherboard only has two ram slots and I'm not sure exactly if this would work which is why I'm asking before I purchase the ram.
Instead of replacing the 4gb completely and buying 2x4, would it work if I was to get 1x8gb and have 10gb of ram. I'm not exactly sure how ram works at all other than what kind of ram to look for.
Thanks.

In order to run ram together, they have to have the same speed, CAS ect. I would just get the 2x4 and call it a day.

If you have a semi-modern motherboard the new ram will work fine as long as its ddr3.
Firstly we need to know upto what speed of RAM your motherboard will support. Also if your processor has the required memory controller to support this speed. Could you tell which motherboard and which verion of it do you have along with the processor & its family?

I dont know the exact model of the motherboard and quite frankly I don't feel like doing the digging I once did before to find it. When I asked about upgrading to a gtx 750 ti I was told that is a modern mother board that allows ddr3 memory. I'm not even gonna bother with the 10gb. I already ordered 2x4gb stuff. thanks anyway guys 😀
