Upgrading from 980 SLI to 980ti SLI worth it for 4k?

Hi!

I tend to play new games on 4K and I'm quite happy with 980 SLI but now I'm at a situation where I could sell them for a small loss and buy two 980ti's and put them in SLI. I'm wondering would the difference in 4k be significant and whether or not it would be worth the upgrade? Many seem to say that the 6gb vram would make a big difference to 4gb when it comes to playing games in 4k.

For instance now I'm able to play BF4 on High 4K settings on most maps with good FPS.

yes, the 4gb is pushed to its limit in some games depending on your in-game settings. The way things are with games at the moment, i would say 3gb for 1080p ultra settings, 4gb for 1440, and above 4gb for 4k. Don't forget to turn off AA, its pointless above 1080p.

gtx 980ti sli would give you option for 2x msaa

According to recent tests from gamersnexus you can expect about this much performance increase in the following games if you switch from dual gtx 980's to dual gtx 980 ti's

Decent performance bump, but whether it's worth the price is up to you. Hope this helps make your decision a little easier.
