Hi everyone,

I think that my GPU might finally be dying after 5 years and I'm looking to upgrade. At the moment I have:
MSI AERO GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB Video Card

It's been amazing, but I think it's time to finally upgrade since it's now having issues. I haven't built a PC in nearly 5 years, so I'm completely out of the loop. Lots of new generations have come in since then, the 3X series, now the 4X, at one point due to bitcoin mining the prices skyrocketed.

Since I'm now in unknown territory, what would you guys recommend as a GPU to upgrade to with a budget of around £400? Are the 4X series sigificantly better than 3x? Is a 4060 better than a 3x series? How much of an improvement would the new GPU be in comparison to my 1070?

One thing that's also a concern is the size, the new GPU seem to be incredibly wide, I'm not sure a 3 fan GPU is even gonna fit in my case without banging into my watercooler.

This is my current PC hardware:

Cheers everyone

RX 6700 XT 12GB or
RTX 4060 Ti 8GB

Both would be ~ 2x faster than your old 1070.
4060 Ti is slightly better in performance, but RX 6700 XT has more vram.

There is also 16GB model for RTX 4060 Ti. But it's slightly over your budget.
But it might be ok for you to increase budget a bit.

For gpu clearance check the specific gpu model against your pc case.

Cheers for the advice, what about something like this for the 4060 ti version?
