Upgrade time has finally arrived and I have a GTX 1080 on the way, upgrading from a 2gb GTX 680. I'm also going from 8gb ram to 32gb and a slightly better processor, i7-3820 to i7-6700. My question is what kind of difference in gaming should I expect to see? As it is now with most new AAA games I usually have to settle for roughly 30fps and generally the "high" settings on most effects. I'd love to be able to run BF1 and other upcoming games at their maximum beauty.

I know from most benchmarks I've looked at the 1080 should blow the 680 out of the water but will I be able to run just every upcoming graphically-intense game maxed out for a while? My resolution will only be 1080p so the gtx 1080 could be overkill but I'm wanting it to last me about as long as the 680 has.

Thanks for any help.

Yeah the 1080 should definitely max out all games on 1080p. Also, I think you are wasting money with 32GB of memory. Heck, even your CPU you have now should be good enough for a 1080.
Thanks guys. Really looking forward to playing games at their best again. Been a long time. Yeh I was guessing the 32gb and i7-6700 was more than I needed but it was all through a deal I couldn't pass up with a good friend.

Thanks again.
