Will I need to download any new drivers to get the full performance out of this CPU like I would with a new graphics card? Or should it perform as expected straight out the box?
There's no snag with Windows, all Ryzen processors are same with some cores enabled/disabled and use same driver. Changing a processor doesn't even change Windows license which is tied to MB only.
It should perform as intended. The only snag you might run into is with windows since you changed processors, but since you are simply adding cores and not architecture then it should not be an issue
