sunder25 :
The intel processor is a lot faster per core and a bit faster overall than the amd.
This will gain you a good boost in games that use one-two cores.
Keep in mind that you need a different mobo aswell.
So my ga-a75-d3h is no good for Intel chipsets? Do you think I could find one that supports Intel chipsets for the same price I could sell the current one?
The_Next_Ben :
The person above is correct, but AMD is currently alot cheaper with 119 dollars just for 4.1 GHz turbo (FX-6300). If you are just the kind of person who doesn't play very many games and is just using the computer for browsing, the I3 will do you fine.
I'm not sure I get what you're saying. Is the FX-6300 better for gaming? Because that's mainly what I will be using it for. Thing is the march gaming CPU hierarchy lists puts it only 1 level above mine, although looking at cpubenchmark.net there's a near 100% increase with Pass mark. But then again don't most games use only 2 cores and rarely more? What will I do with six?
Also will the fx6300 work with my current mobo?
TechCIDLC :
The performance increase will be very big, and will not bottleneck the GTX 760 like the APU did. But, as sunder25 said, you need an Intel motherboard. Look for the ASUS H87-PLUS, it is a very good motherboard for that CPU.
Maybe so, but my budget is getting stretched thin as is.
Thanks for all the help.
