Ok so got some money to play with so can finally afford to go for my first Intel build what should I get? Im really tempted to get Skylake especially as I spotted a 6700k for only 30 bucks more than a 4790k. This is going to be primarily a gaming/streaming rig.

Hi Jolly Pirate thanks for the reply, I have decided to go with Skylake build although im unsure whether to hold off until there are Skylake-e available which from what I have read online are due early spring I think.

so the build at the moment stands like this:

CM Storm Stryker Full Tower
Corsair 850RMi PSU
ASUS Sabretooth Z170 Motherboaard
Skylake 6700K CPU
Corsair H100i Cooler( the 110i doesn't fit the case or would have got that)
32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3200 CL15 G-skill Trident Z
2 x MSI GTX 980TI Seahawk gfx cards
1 x 27" Acer Predator 4k G-sync monior
1 x 500gb M2 Samsung 850 Evo SSD for main system drive
1 x 1TB Samung 850 Evo sata3 SSD for gaming drive
1 x 4TB WD black for storage

so that's gonna be my next build pretty much although im not sure if I need a slightly bigger PSU for overclocking headroom. What do you think?

Thats a preatty beast build.A 850w psu isnt gonna leave you with much oc headroom so you can upgrade that a bit if you want. Even a 6700k is overkill for gaming, and it should be able to handle streaming no problem, so ther eis really no need to wait, there is always something stronger coming out. Have you considered the x99 platform (i5 5820k)?

I did have a look at the x99 setups but if I went down that route I would ideally want to go for at least the 5930k for the full 40 PCI-E lanes just to max out the GFX card potential of the x99 boards, and then looking at the stock speeds of all the Haswell-E CPU's in comparison to the power consumption before overclocking id much rather go with the Skylake which I have spotted going online for £282 the 5930k is also still over £420 as well as the x99 motherboards being more expensive than the Z170's, I have a decent budget but its still a budget, and I am trying to maximise my moneys worth for gaming performance I wont be doing that much multithreaded stuff and can use my old 6 core Phenom 2 1090T setup as the streaming computer once I get a capture card for it. I wont be overclocking the system for any long periods more just when doing the odd bit of benchmarking, but I suppose I should probably get the 950W PSU that should cover overclocking.

The excitement of a new build approaching is starting to grow :)
