Upgrading from an AMD radeon HD 6450, need advice

I currently have an AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card, and I'm looking to upgrade for better all around performance when I'm playing games, however, in all honesty, I have next to no knowledge on Graphics cards.

Apart from my graphics card my PC has:
Intel Core i5-2380P CPU (3.40 GHz)
8.00GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Gigabyte H61M-S2PV Motherboard
500GB HDD
and
a Winpower AD-E500AE-A5/A6 500W PSU

Cheers for any advice you can give.

edit: I forgot to add my budget, I'm poor atm, so anything from 100-150ish or under would be brilliant, thanks again!

An AMD Radeon HD7770 Ghz edition should fit nicely within your price range (at about £90 - £110). I'm pretty sure 500w will be fine with it, if not with the extra £50 from your budget maybe get a cx600 or something.

500W definitely won't be needed for a 7770 I'm sure.

Maybe a GTX 650 Ti Boost will be within his price range too.

I think the GT 640 beats your Radeon GPU; at least on specs.

If you could get a GTX card though, like a GTX 650 Ti Boost you'd be very happy I think.

Or a Radeon 7850.
