Upgrading from an i3-4170.

So i currently have a 1150 socket motherboard and an i3-4170.Im looking to upgrade it but i don't really have a big budget and i don't think it will get bigger.I am looking at either getting a Ryzen 3 1300x with a AM4 motherboard or a i5-4460.What do you suggest?
GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 8 GB (single channel)

The less expensive option is the i5. Ryzen would require new DDR4 ram as well. By the time you did all of that, you would spend enough to get a 1231v3, off ebay.

Hmm do you think getting the i5-4460 is better than 8 more GB of ram making the ram dual channel and an ssd.
The i5 4460 and the i3 4170 look VERY close.I don't think its worth it.

Given the graphics card you have, the i5 probably isn't worth it. A matching stick of ram, and an SSD would be a good choice.
