Hey guys,

So I'm planning to upgrade the GPU that I've been using for the last 3 years. I mostly play on 1080p for now, but will be upgrading to 1440p next year if I'm lucky. I've come across this used RTX 4070 Super in the marketplace for 520 USD (Unfortunately these are the standard low prices in my country, especially if you buy new). Or I can get a new RX 9060 XT 16gb for 430 USD.

Now the question is, is it a worthwhile upgrade (future proof??) or I should just wait till next year before upgrading? I mostly play ultra modded Skyrim these days and have been experiencing stutters all over the place so upgrading crossed my mind.

Also, is my PSU enough if I'm planning to underclock and lower the power limit?

Currently my specs is:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Super
RAM: G.Skill 32GB 3600mhz DDR4
HDD: 1TB WD Blue, 2TB WD Purple
MOBO: Asus A320M-K
PSU: Corsair CX550-M
SSD: Transcend 2TB M.2 nvme
Monitor: Samsung 24" 1080p 60hz

Any help and recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

How old is the PSU? Even if it was brand new, you'll need to replace the PSU with something higher in wattage and quality, regardless of the RTX 4070 Super or the RX 9060 XT. Since you're on the RTX2060 Super, I'd advise on going with the RTX 5000 series instead of the RTX 4000 series.

(Unfortunately these are the standard low prices in my country, especially if you buy new)
Where is this country on the map?

My PSU is like, 5 years old now

BTW, the price for that 4070 Super is super rare, it's like a bigfoot sighting. A new RTX 5070 costs like 600+ dollars, even a used one is not far from its new price, same goes for RX 9070 non XT which costs 700+ dollars

I'm from Philippines, so the GPU prices here are... you know, it's just so bad.

The 4070 Super sounds like a good buy, but if you purchase it, be sure to upgrade your power supply as well. In this case your power supply is not only underpowered, but it is also lower quality (Corsair CX PSUs aren’t considered very good).

Conversely, Corsair RM Series PSUs are very high quality. I would recommend you upgrade your PSU to a Corsair RM750x.

And yes, this will be good “Future Proofing” for when you make the jump to 1440p next year.

Later Po.
