Hey. Currently have a B350 PC Mate. I've been thinking about upgrading to the B450 Carbon for the more guaranteed support, would this be a decent idea?
How about stuff like PBO?Not needed. The 3700x is only 65w, and that board can handle a 105w 2700x no problem.
Just make sure to update the bios first.
The PC Mate doesn't support it. I can also sell my PC Mate for hopefully around $50. There's also the Crosshair VI I could get for cheap. Too many decisions honestly. Not sure if your board supports it. Gotta concider if the extra performance is worth the extra $85 for a b450 board if your board doesnt support it.
Running the 1600. I honestly haven't liked this board since I bought it and from what I've seen, most people don't like the Mate either. The Pro Carbon SHOULD be a substantial upgrade. I also bought some DDR4-3600.If you do want to overclock your cpu and have the best memory overclocking, i would buy a good quality 400 series board.
While 300 will work, 400 series may be better suited.
Im assuming you already have a 1st gen chip? If not, look for boards with usb bios flashing.
I had a b350 pc mate and nothing but memory issues, but i would have no doubt it would work with 3rd gen, just not ideal.
Has MSI announced they positively won't come out with BIOS support for it with Zen2?The PC Mate doesn't support it. I can also sell my PC Mate for hopefully around $50. There's also the Crosshair VI I could get for cheap. Too many decisions honestly.
