Upgrading from FX 8350. Suggestions?

My Specs:

CPU: FX 8350 4.0ghz

GPU: RX 480 8gigs

Display: Acer GN246HL 144hz (Stuck at 60 because the monitor does not have display port, my error.)

16gb of RAM and Windows 10.

I can't stand the processor I have. It was bought as an emergency upgrade awhile back, and I feel like it hinders my gaming experience. With my GPU I should be pulling decent benchmarks in games? No? I want to upgrade what should I do? Intel? New Ryzen?

7700K is current top dog (if ruling out the rather outrageously priced X299 variants clocked 100 MHz higher but with a $300 more expensive X299 board...)

If you can wait until post-October, Z370 , 8600K/8700K coming soon...

If can't wait, and 7700K is too pricey, an R5-1600(6 core/12 thread CPU)/B350 mainboard is 2nd most popular combo choice for an assembled gaming rig in America right now...and it's good choice, too, IMO, just not as fast as the 7700K.
