Hello All

Would it be worth it to upgrade from my Current Board on my Main Gaming Desktop--Gigabyte B460M-DS3h to Say an Asus Z590 Micro Atx board provided i could afford one of them? As thinking might sometime wanna do that, to have the best performance from my Intel 10700 Processor.

Also on a Scale of 1 thru 10 how hard of a swap would that be in my Thermaltake V200 TG RGB case? I figure the Asus board also could support a better air cooler probably better than my current board--and i'd finally be able to experience it boosting to 4.8Ghz, versus now only can experience up to 4.6 or sometimes 4.7ghz depending on room temp as well as internal CPU temp with the Intel Stock Cooler that PC shop used

Though i don't have a CPU Plastic Slot Cover as Shop did not provide that in the motherboard box nor screws period

Advice appreciated on this matter

Solution
B4560M DS3H, not a good motherboard for something like i7 10700 because it has weak vrm which doesn't allow i7 to run at its full potential but 10700 is not an unlocked processor, you can't overclock it and it's not even an 11th gen processor so you'll not get the advantage of extra PCIe 4.0 lanes and some other stuff. you can still buy a z590 board but I don't think it's a wise decision.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B560M-AORUS-PRO-AX-rev-1x#kf this Mobo has good vrm design it can handle i9 without any problem and it's cheaper than z590 the only con is it can't overclock.
I would go with a good Z490 board, instead. With Z590, the top M.2 slot only works when an 11th gen chip is installed. The swap shouldn't be difficult, but a fresh install, of windows, is recommended. Your current board could handle a better cooler. To be honest, I would start there, first. Cheaper and easier solution.

Yeah would be cheaper honestly just deciding on a better cooler, and just using it with Current board do realize that.

Good to Know Current board can handle a better cooler

Would've been easier if Shop had just built it in June 2020 with a better cooler from the start, but i guess they maybe figured the Intel Stock cooler could handle the 8 Core, 16 thread chip fine.

Will purchase all the supplies needed to upgrade Cooler either for Christmas or Birthday in 2022 i guess then, then tackle it, and hopefully all goes well

Well Not looking to overclock anyhow, will definitely look at the B560M-Aorous Pricing and hopefully i can afford that, as this board was only one shop offered when i did my upgrade to Comet Lake in June 2020, so i accepted it, and traded in my old Asus G11CD-K Desktop with Intel 7700 Processor at the time.

Honestly probably didn't really need a Z590 like i originally thought of doing--thinking B560M might be a definitely better choice after all
