I'm upgrading my graphics cards and am really confused on what the procedure is. All the tutorials are complicated and messy and prone to failure as shown by comments on uninstalling graphics drivers tutorials. If someone could provide a step by step guide on what to do when upgrading my graphics card that would be great. Right now I'm confused as to whether or not I just do this:
1. Unplug PC and replace GTX 960 with GTX 970
2. Plug PC back in
3. Run CD that came with my GTX 970 to install new graphics drivers
4. Done?
Also, if I am to uninstall graphics drivers do I need to first uninstall the Nvidia graphics drivers in control panel, reboot, and put in my CD? Because I heard if you don't have onboard graphics your computer will completely shit on you if you uninstall graphics drivers. I just need a step by step procedure in the format I listed above.

So, I uninstall all the drivers correct? That would include Nvidia graphics driver, geforce experience, 3D vision driver, 3D vision controller driver, HD audio driver, Physx system software, and miracast virutal audio? Do i just highlight all of them and uninstall them all through control panel and then continue on with steps 1 and 2?

I upgraded my GTX Ti 550 to a 970 a few days ago. I was running Nvidia 361.43 drivers (latest from their site) It was as easy as pulling the old card out and replacing it with the 970. Turned the PC back on and everything worked without having to do anything. If your running older drivers, just swap the card and go to Nvidias site to download the latest drivers like Grandmaster said. The driver CD you got with the card will have older drivers on it. No need to uninstall the old drivers on your PC as the newest drivers from Nvidia will allow you to just upgrade them or select the "Clean driver Install" during the setup to uninstall all the old drivers before it re installs.
