Hello, I am fairly new to upgrading PC's, However my problem is that I bought a HP Omen desktop and it has:
-Intel i5-7400
-GTX 1060 3GB
(https://www.johnlewis.com/hp-omen-880-100na-tower-pc-intel-core-i5-8gb-1tb-hdd-128gb-ssd-nvidia-gtx-1060-black/p3687914?sku=237552621&s_kwcid=2dx92700025662789772&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&msclkid=62a131567a4b1a2afd236a82afa56832&gclid=CPi_0urFp94CFRCPhQodUMMAqQ&gclsrc=ds)

and my question is.. will I be able to upgrade from a 3GB to a 6GB without issues and be able to pretty much plug and play?

I also would like to upgrade to a i7-7700k but I dont know if the PSU is will give enough outage or if I'll have compatability to do so.

Yes the upgrade will be fine... You are good to go.... Nice pc though.. And yes you can also upgrade your CPU if you want... lm using a 650w psu with a 7700k and 1080ti no problems....

Great thank you! Will it be more effective to upgrade to a 1070 of some sort? Without having communicability problems etc?

Consider a GX 1070 TI used off ebay. It's a titch more costly than a new 1060 TI 6GB, but not by much. If you get a brand such as EVGA, they have a transferable warranty that you can use should anything be wrong.
