Upgrading from GTX260

I want to upgrade from GTX260 since modern games seem to make its temperature go to 105 degrees C. I'll keep it as a back up and maybe reseat the heat sink using thermal paste instead of the crap thermal pads some electronics come with (it worked on an overheating motherboard!).

I'm thinking of the ZOTAC GTX 1050 Ti Low Profile 4GB for $190. Is that a good value? Haven't looked into GPUs in ages!

I currently have a Z170-E motherboard with an i5-6500 3.20 Ghz. Compatible?

Is that fully compatible with my system? I have EVGA SuperNOVA 750 PSU btw. So as you can tell my last upgrade upgraded everything except for the GPU.

Assuming it is compatible, do you think I should pay a bit more for something better or save some money and get something lower end? Can this run all modern games on at least medium quality settings without overheating/throttling?

I got the card. Haven't played any games yet, but the first thing I noticed was that the card was about 1/2 the size of the GTX 260 I had in there. Unlike the GTX, it does not require any external power (GTX required a whopping 2 direct lines from the PSU) and it does not have SPDIF in pins (that I saw). Upon installing the driver, I saw power consumption go down from 120 watts to 90 watts system-wide. I guess the GTX had a 30W heater, which is what needed the two dedicated PSU wires.
